The DEA Louisville Field Division is proud to present the Basic Narcotics School, a comprehensive training event hosted at the St. Albans Police Department. This intensive week-long program is designed for law enforcement professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills in narcotics enforcement.
Training Overview:
Monday, August 19: The program kicks off with opening remarks by DEA ASAC J.T. Scroggs, Capt Bass, or Chief M. Gilbert, followed by sessions on interviewing skills and techniques, confidential source and undercover operations, controlled purchases, and post-critical incident situations.
Tuesday, August 20: Dive into drug identification, field testing, pharmacology, knock/talk techniques, clan lab/hazmat investigations, report writing, and search warrants.
Wednesday, August 21: Focus on search and seizure law, Miranda rights, preparing cases for federal prosecution, ethics, and surveillance techniques.
Thursday, August 22: Engage in practical classes on physical surveillance and tactical/raids entry techniques.
Friday, August 23: Conclude with sessions on confidential source management, de-confliction, first aid, intel resources, and a class wrap-up including a critique and basic narcotics test.
