Course Description:
MGT 335 is a DHS/FEMA-certified, tuition-free, 16-hour course tailored for small and rural community public safety personnel and local officials. This comprehensive training is designed to address security concerns and considerations necessary for planning any size event, enhancing the safety and effectiveness of community gatherings. Participants will gain critical skills in:

  • Guiding Principles for Event Security: Understand the foundational aspects of securing events.
  • Risk Assessment Fundamentals: Learn to conduct thorough risk, threat, and vulnerability assessments.
  • Event Security Planning Components: Develop emergency action plans, understand resource requirements, and establish Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs).
  • Actionable Security Intelligence: Learn the importance of security intelligence in planning and response.
  • Interactive Scenarios: Engage in decision-based video scenarios to practice handling potential incidents.
  • Event Planning Exercise: Apply learned concepts in a practical planning exercise.
