Everything you wanted to know about Search and Seizure but were afraid to ask! Search Warrants can be one of the most intimidating functions of law enforcement. Officers and supervisors alike often avoid search warrants. This 8 Hr LET class will teach officers everything they need to know about writing, obtaining, and executing search warrants for just about every situation. This class will cover the following search and seizure topics.

• Probably Cause development and documentation
• Search Warrant construction and documentation
• Search Warrants for Residences
• Search Warrants for Vehicles
• Search Warrants for narcotic investigations
• Search Warrants for Mobile Devices, internet sites, and phone records
• Executing Search warrants and filing returns

The Instructor, Sgt Eric Smith, is a 20-year veteran of the Charleston Police Department. During his 20-year career, Sgt. Smith has received numerous awards and commendations. Before being promoted, Sgt Smith worked as an Intelligence officer for over seven years in the Charleston Police Departments Criminal Investigation Division. During this time, Sgt Smith conducted over 1000 mobile forensic exams of cell phones, performed toll analysis on over 300,000 telephone calls, and assisted in investigating 40 homicides. Over his almost 21-year career, Sgt Smith has written, applied for, and received well over 500 search warrants. Of those hundreds of search warrants, Sgt Smith’s search warrants were never challenged in court.
