Military and College Incentive Points: Earn extra points on your written exam if you have a degree related to law enforcement or military experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Maintain public order and safety by enforcing laws and ordinances.
    • Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance as needed.
    • Conduct investigations and gather evidence.
    • Participate in community policing initiatives to foster strong community relations.
    • Perform traffic control duties and accident investigations.
    • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies as required.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

    • Must be a United States Citizen.
    • Age requirement: Between 18 and 40 years at the date of application.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • High school diploma or G.E.D.
    • Ability to pass a physical fitness test and medical examinations.
    • Successful completion of a background investigation.
    • Passing score on the written competitive examination.
    • Physically fit condition as required by the West Virginia State Police Academy.
    • Commitment to completing all phases of training at the State Police Academy.
